Executive Function

Executive Function Across Cultures and Contexts

Research on how executive function develops and supports goal-directed behavior within particular social, cultural, educational, and environmental contexts. This work gives special attention to Latin American populations and examines whether influential theories and measures developed in Minority World settings adequately represent cognitive development in other contexts.

Reasoning and Cognitive Strategies

Reasoning and Cognitive Strategies

Investigation of how individuals approach reasoning problems, which strategies they select, and how these strategies contribute to differences in performance. By combining behavioral methods with eye-tracking, this research seeks to understand not only whether people solve a problem successfully, but also the cognitive pathways through which they reach their answers.

Learning and Cognitive Interventions

Learning and Cognitive Interventions

Critical investigation of whether cognitive abilities can be improved through interventions and whether observed benefits transfer beyond the activities being trained. This research examines the strength and validity of intervention evidence, how outcomes are measured, and whether different measures capture meaningful changes in everyday functioning. It also investigates how individual and contextual factors influence intervention outcomes and their interpretation.
